The Artist Ranch Project is an initiative designed to facilitate an interpretation of western heritage and values through contemporary art.
Each year the Stampede funds a small group of selected contemporary artists to spend a weekend in Longview to experience the western way of life on an authentic working ranch. The artists will then create a body of artwork inspired by their ranch experience, culminating in a unique exhibition and sale of work in the Calgary Stampede Western Showcase art show.
Please note that the Stampede will not cover travel/ airline costs to get to Calgary nor accommodation costs outside of the weekend in Longview but will cover all costs for transportation, accommodation and meals from the Friday morning to Sunday afternoon when we get you back to Calgary.
10th Anniversary Show in 2019
Stampede 2019 marks the 10th anniversary of Artist Ranch Project! Planning is underway for an exciting year ahead. The 2019 show will be exclusive to alumni artists and all alumni artists (2009-2018) are invited to participate.
Alumni artists interested in taking part in the 10th Anniversary Artist Ranch Project, can email the committee to express their interest.

Recruitment of new artists’ submissions for the September 2019 residency and the 2020 Stampede show will resume in January 2019. If you are a NEW artist interested in the Ranch project please register your name with us for the 2019/2020 year now and we will keep in touch as our program develops including opportunities to meet ARP alumni artists.
