Brent Heighton

Brent Heighton's paintings are characterized by unrestrained strokes that cascade into one another, sparkling with light and colour. Heighton's works celebrate nature's splendor, whether revealed in a fragile petal, a rush of wings, or a descending dusk.

Heighton paints in a style that is more impressionistic than it is representational, and works primarily in translucent watercolour. He also enjoys using acrylics and oils. "I combine the best qualities and techniques of watercolour � the looseness and expression, with the best of oils � the thickness and texture, to achieve an effect that transcends both mediums," he says.

Heighton has been a prolific painter for over twenty years. He grew up in farming communities on the West Coast and in Ontario, and embarked on a fine arts career during his twenties. Today he works out of his studio in Surrey, British Columbia. He travels regularly, exploring museums and galleries throughout the world, drawing inspiration from his studies of American, Soviet, Oriental and European impressionists.

Heighton's works are collected and enjoyed by people throughout North America, Asia, Japan and Europe.
