April was born in Calgary; in her childhood her family moved to Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.  Moving to Rocky Mountain House was a cultural shock and provided many diverse experiences.  This combined with devastating experiences etched forever into her memory profoundly influenced her life and art.  April graduated from the Visual Arts Program at Red Deer College, Red Deer, Alberta.  Her painting, The Dancer, was purchased by the Alberta Foundation of the Arts in 2002.
