Gallery Artist
Ed Peekeekoot
Artist and musician Ed Peekeekoot is a member of the Ahtahkakoop Cree First Nation in Saskatchewan and now lives on Vancouver Island. Ed honors his heritage and his love of wildlife in his wood carvings, stone and clay sculptures, and paintings in oil and acrylics. Ed’s work is in private collections around the world and he contributed 31 illustrations to a Cree History book that was published in the year 2000. In the last few years Ed has focused mainly on the carvings he does in Cottonwood Bark. Sometimes Ed discovers the “story” of a piece only when he is finished and sees the spiritual symbolism it carries.
