The 2008 Western Art Show Sales Salon enjoyed a successful show with strong crowds, exceptional artists and new faces.

The 2008 New Artist buckle was won by Fred Boyer of Montana. Don Oelze was awarded Best Flat Work Artist and Clyde Ross Morgan was awarded Best 3-Dimensional Artist. Stephen Lee and Kay Holman's booth was judged to be the best of this year's show.

There is much excitement and many new plans for 2009 celebrating our western heritage through fine art.

The Western Art Show Sales Salon endeavors to present well-known and emerging Canadian & American artists whose work is indicative of the heritage & grandeur of the West. Every artist is juried into the show which is based upon the quality of the work, as well as encompassing the theme of Western Art. The majority of the work must be representative of the Western Art theme, which depicts themes of Western Prairie/Mountain Culture, lifestyle, heritage, and characters that is diverse in medium and subject including; Ranching; Landscapes; Rodeo; Agriculture; First Nations; Florals; Portraits; Architecture; Wildlife.

The Sales Salon presents three awards which are juried by the Sales Salon Jury: Juror's Choice Best of Show - Flat Art; Juror's Choice Best of Show - 3 Dimensional; Best of Show Booth - awarded to a 10-day booth that is judged to have the best visual presentation of displayed art.

The large attractive booths in this area encourage the public to browse, meet and visit with the artists. Approximately 50 artists are present for the duration of the Show. All artwork is original and for sale.
The artists' work can be seen in downtown Calgary at the Hudson's Bay and the Bank of Montreal Building, as well as at the new Lazy S Club on Stampede Park.
