Western Art Gallery
The Western Art Gallery features new and emerging Western artists whose original work represents the heritage and grandeur of the West. Each year approximately 20 to 25 artists are selected by a jury process to display and sell their work during the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede. As part of the Western Showcase art show located in the Roundup centre, the Western Art Gallery offers patrons an opportunity to purchase quality western art anytime during Stampede.
Feature Artist
A highlight of the Western Art Gallery show is the feature artist exhibit. Each year a selected artist’s work is displayed and sold during the show. In recent years, feature artists have included Yvette Moore, Page Ough, Graham Flatt, Karl Wood, Wendy Risdale, Allan Sapp and Peter Shostak.
Artist Window
The Artist Window is a special area within the Gallery show where artists can be viewed working on pieces in their chosen medium. This art is not for sale but is an opportunity for patrons to watch the artistic process and to be exposed to a variety of art mediums.
Aboriginal Artists
In 2007, "People of the Plains - Artistic Expressions" was introduced to the Gallery show. This exhibit and sale displays noted Aboriginal artists who are invited to participate in the show. These artists come from many regions of the Canadian Plains.
