Window On The West Performers
Darcy Alan, Country Singer/Songwriter
Darcy seemed destined to become a musician from an early start.
He was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta and moved to Edmonton shortly after.
Darcy grew up listening to the likes of, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Roy Orbison, CCR, Neil Diamond and The Eagles, but not from the radio mind you, but from his Father’s Rock & Roll band, who used to practice their music in the family basement.
Darcy watched and followed his father’s band for years, in hopes that one day he would become a musician also and travel around the world, writing and performing his own music.
In the mid 90’s, Darcy formed a band named Wild Heart, performing lead vocals and rhythm guitar, this Edmonton band played at various small town festivals, country bars and weddings.
A couple of years later, Darcy went on the road with another band and played clubs all throughout Alberta and B.C.
After 8 months of touring he packed in the road life and decided to get a “real job”.
In the summer of 2004, Darcy entered the Big Valley Jamboree Karaoke Contest, as a “wild card” and came in around 4th place.
After the contest he decided to put his guitar away for good, as he felt he was lacking in originality and the playing of other artist’s material began to feel less inspiring.
Then in January 2008, Darcy became inspired to write his own songs and within a period of less than a year, he wrote 25 original songs.
He began to frequent the Saturday afternoon jam sessions at the Ranchman’s in Calgary, Alberta, mingling and performing with some of Alberta’s best talented musicians.
This contact led Darcy to MCC Recording Studio’s here in Calgary, in which he recorded a demo of 10 original songs.
Look forward to Darcy Alan’s CD being released sometime in the late fall of 2009.
In the promotion of his new album, Darcy plans on playing clubs, music festivals and just about anywhere he would be invited to play.
