Window On The West Performers
HWY 529
The band Hwy 529 is from Stavely, Alberta. They've been entertaining around Southern and Central Alberta for about five years playing classic country along with 50's and 60's rock and roll and blues.
The band consists of three members. Shlane Broomfield, Donny Broomfield and Doug Broomfield. Shlane and Donny are husband and wife and Doug is Donny's father and of course Shlane's father-in-law.
Shlane Broomfield
Shlane started playing guitar and singing in 2004 at the age of 20. Rythym guitar and vocals was her role in Hwy 529 for the first 3 years. She happened to sit down and try a set of drums in 2007 and has never looked back. Shlane is now the drummer for the band but once in a while plays the acoustic for performances.
Donny Broomfield
This is a guy that can play almost any instrument he touches. From Mandolin, Banjo, Drums, lead guitar, piano and of course his favourite, the Kazoo. His role in Hwy 529 is lead guitar and vocals. Donny began playing guitar in College at the age of ninteen. He plays many different styles but enjoys old country and blues.
Doug Broomfield
Doug has been the bass player and vocalist for a Southern Alberta band called "The Free Beer Band" for 35 years. He is also a very talented piano player which he sometimes incorporates into his shows. He began playing piano at the ripe age of four. When Doug's son and daughter-in-law started assembling a band, Doug was the prime candidate for the bass player. He now plays for "The Free Beer Band" and "Hwy 529" which keeps him on his toes.
