MURRAY PHILLIPS

Murray has always had an intense urgency to paint, as if something important needs to be said and he can only say it with brush and canvas.

He has been painting for over 40 years but much of his life has been lived in the halls of academia where he holds graduate degrees in Cultural Anthropology and Theology. For over 20 years he has taught at a variety of colleges and universities and he is in demand both as a teacher and a public speaker. 

His wilderness paintings have been purchased by individuals and corporations throughout North America.

For many years now, he has had a booth at the Calgary Stampede and for several years he has been invited back to speak on Art Appreciation and to engage children in painting with an artist.  Plan to join the fun as he and other Artists of the Western Art Show share their tips and techniques with volunteer youth members of our audience on stage.
